Phatwater Updates-Results
I still have very little skill when it comes to understanding the workings of our WordPress Page, which covers the functionality of our Blog. Â I have people writing me every day wanting to know answers to questions I don’t even pretend to understand. Â One example is a question I am repeatedly asked about RSS feeds. Â I have no idea what an RSS feed is. Â I don’t know what an RSS is, or what they feed on, or even prefer to feed on in the absence of their preferred feed. Â I have looked up RSS feed on Google, several times. Â Here’s what I got most recently: Â RSS (most commonly expanded as “Really Simple Syndication”) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works-such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video-in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a “feed”, “web feed”, or “channel”) includes full or summarized text, plus metadata such as publishing dates and authorship.”
It goes on and on from here, and gets increasingly more meaningless from my point iof view.
Other things I’ve noticed recently. Â I have been questioned again and again about our results page, and asked to republish this past year’s results in a readable format. Â I sort-of know what a PDF file is, although I haven’t a clue how to produce one. Â I do have this, which is, I believe, the final PDF of our results from this past year.
Please understand I have not been unwilling to provide this information. Â Rather, I just stumbled across several requests for it in a ream of emails I only today became aware of . Again, it goes back to my inability to understand things like RSS feeds, and comments that have been posted but not reviewed on our WordPress Blog, which I am continually being asked to update to the latest version, 2.9.1, yet which I haven’t a clue how to do. Â I click, when asked to update, and then the system asks me for a user name which, apparently, I’ve never been provided. Â The mystery continues, as does the rain. Â Phatwater on the Natchez Gauge, today, is 46′ and rising.
